Shopping mall after shopping mal after shopping mall. Here I am, eating inside food court in another shopping mall in Bangkok. Flashy flat screens, well presented food, a fancy card that you can order with. But instead, I dream away to the time I was in Savannakhet, passing by a lady selling noodle soup on the street. She smiled at me and made me sit down. She brought me noodle soup, while the smile refused to subside, for a fraction of the price of my current meal. I long for it now, a simple noodle soup made by a lady on the street. Where am I? Why do we think that all this wealth will make us happier? Is this what a prosperous economy with jobs is? Are we fools? I wonder.
